Syam Gumpalli is Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the Consortium for Clinical Research and Innovation Singapore (CRIS), where he defines the organisation’s cyber security strategy, oversees the alignment of cyber security initiatives, and ensures adherence to prevailing cyber security policies and standards for CRIS and other MOH Holding entities under his purview. As CISO, his role also extends to aligning cyber security risk management activities with the public healthcare sector’s Cyber Security Risk Management Framework, and further addressing gaps to improve the cyber security posture for CRIS.

Syam will work with the CRIS Chief Information Officer for incorporating security-by-design in Information Technology (IT) systems, and ensure that the systems are in-built with strong defence-in-depth measures to safeguard organisational data from cyber threats. He will also be closely involved with the Corporate Affairs and Human Resources functions for maintaining an appropriate level of security awareness within the organisation for cyber security threats and response actions required.

In a career spanning more than 20 years, Syam has had extensive experience in IT operations and cyber security. He has previously held leadership positions at Parkway Pantai healthcare group and CapitaLand, among others, during his professional career.

He holds a Masters in Information Technology from the Manipal University of Higher Education, and is certified for cyber security and executive strategy from Stanford University.
